"Post" Covid Ruminations

I’ve just looked back on my last and only post in this blog and realized that it’s been over 4 years since! So many thoughts and happenings have ensued since as I try to resurrect this blog. One of my primary intentions for this blog is to express honest thoughts and ideas and about my work, current industry issues as well as developments in the local scene. From our work point of view, we’ve probably had the busiest 4 years, finished a few homes, a number of additions and remodels, designed a few more homes that have yet to be built and even dabbled into development.

The topics that spring to my mind that have almost become mantras when I speak to clients and collaborators about projects are varied. I’d love to put fingers to keyboard on each of these topics soon, perhaps one at a time. But some of them include:

1) Creating the best conditions for success in a project.

2) Fostering teamwork between all parties within the design and construction process.

3) Understanding the uncertainties of the marketplace and construction process, especially in Santa Fe.

4) Working out a reasonable agreement that all parties understand before embarking on a project.

5) What do we do if or when things go sour!

6) Is “Perfection” possible? What should one expect of their product?

7) “What? The Contractor is charging too much and taking advantage of me!”

All this and more! Stay tuned.
